A jaunty and colorful cold weather hat with vintage flair!
This hat was the result of my falling in love with a gorgeous, extra-wide 1930's-era ribbon at East Coast Trimming in NYC. I could only afford a few yards of it so I think it's safe to say this hat is absolutely one-of-a-kind! Happily, the tiny mustard yellow ombré stripes were a perfect match for this mustard yellow velour felt I had back home in my studio. The ribbon's loose pleats are accented with brass beads to add a bit of modernity to this very vintage ribbon, and I added a second ellipsis of beads on the crown of the hat.
Blocked on a 21-1/2 inch block, this hat will best fit a women's size small head as a head-size hat, or it can be worn, as I am wearing it in the first photo, as a perching hat. (My head size is 23-1/4 inches, if that helps you assess how it will fit you.)
If you have any sizing questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

I'm so glad you asked! Avoid wearing a straw hat in wet weather because it will quickly lose its shape in the rain. You may also find that some dyed straws' colors will run when wet.
Avoid getting fabric trims like silk flowers, ribbon ornaments and veils wet as these can still look droopy even after they dry again.
If a felt hat becomes wet, stuff it loosely with tissue before allowing it to dry. If your felt looks dull or dusty, you can use a bristle brush to brush up the nap again.
To store, stuff your hat loosely with tissue paper to hold its shape, and put it in its hat box away from dust and sunlight. Never hang a hat or keep it on a stand or its shape could become distorted over time.
