A lovely, romantic style for warmer weather!
What a beauty this one is! Blocked from a vintage straw, this cloche is a soft black color bordering on charcoal and has a wonderful texture created by the knots woven into the straw. I've embellished it rather sumptuously with a band of black and white striped ribbon underneath a pale pink ribbon with an overlaid band of trimmed pink veiling, and a cluster of custom-made silk zinnias from M&S Schmalberg in NYC. There are some vintage velvet leaves layered underneath those gorgeous zinnias, too. So feminine and fabulous!
Blocked on a 22-inch hat block, this hat will best fit a head that size. If you have any questions about sizing or how to measure your head, please don't hesitate to ask!

Can you custom-make a hat for me?

I like a hat in your shop but would prefer it had a different trim. Can you swap out the trim on an existing hat for me?
In some cases I can do this and in some cases I can't. Please don't hesitate to ask and we can discuss it!
How do I care for and store my new hat?
I'm so glad you asked! Avoid wearing a straw hat in wet weather because it will quickly lose its shape in the rain. You may also find that some dyed straws' colors will run when wet.
Avoid getting fabric trims like silk flowers, ribbon ornaments and veils wet as these can still look droopy even after they dry again.
If a felt hat becomes wet, stuff it loosely with tissue before allowing it to dry. If your felt looks dull or dusty, you can use a bristle brush to brush up the nap again.
To store, stuff your hat loosely with tissue paper to hold its shape, and put it in its hat box away from dust and sunlight. Never hang a hat or keep it on a stand or its shape could become distorted over time.
