A gorgeously luxe topper for very special occasions, this little button hat is both understated and over-the-top! Beginning with the elegant aqua dupioni silk button base, I've added a beguiling layer of 1930's era black silk veiling and a generous spray of vintage black velvet roses. Fluttering about are a trio of hand-cut and -tooled sequin film butterflies in iridescent aqua and shiny black. This is a fabulous combination of materials and textures, and will look absolutely stunning on you at your next cocktail party, art museum visit, or gala occasion!
This hat has an integrated wire bandeau that is meant to "clamshell" (comfortably) onto the back of your head. The moldable millinery wire out of which the bandeau is made means that you can gently shape it in your hands to conform to your head shape. An attached comb adds additional stability while wearing.

Can you custom-make a hat for me?

I like a hat in your shop but would prefer it had a different trim. Can you swap out the trim on an existing hat for me?
In some cases I can do this and in some cases I can't. Please don't hesitate to ask and we can discuss it!
How do I care for and store my new hat?
I'm so glad you asked! Avoid wearing a straw hat in wet weather because it will quickly lose its shape in the rain. You may also find that some dyed straws' colors will run when wet.
Avoid getting fabric trims like silk flowers, ribbon ornaments and veils wet as these can still look droopy even after they dry again.
If a felt hat becomes wet, stuff it loosely with tissue before allowing it to dry. If your felt looks dull or dusty, you can use a bristle brush to brush up the nap again.
To store, stuff your hat loosely with tissue paper to hold its shape, and put it in its hat box away from dust and sunlight. Never hang a hat or keep it on a stand or its shape could become distorted over time.
