This purple velour perching hat can go with you all kinds of places!
A sophisticated 1940's-style hat rendered in luscious purple velour felt, this hat would be great to wear both when you're feeling stylish in the daytime as well as for evening events. It is composed of a little skullcap and attached hand-sculpted brim with two points that curve past each other into an almost-bow. Loops of the same purple velour felt curve around that shape, adding height and interesting pointiness at their ends.
A braid of the same purple felt forms a bandeau at the back to secure the hat to your head. One end of the bandeau braid passes through an elastic loop inside the hat, rendering the hat adjustable in size and very comfortable to wear. (This is a great little hat trick that I picked up from 1940's era vintage hat.) A wide, fuchsia petersham ribbon finishes the inside of the hat.
This hat is designed to perch to the right side of your head but you can, of course, wear it in whatever way most flatters you.

I'm so glad you asked! Avoid wearing a straw hat in wet weather because it will quickly lose its shape in the rain. You may also find that some dyed straws' colors will run when wet.
Avoid getting fabric trims like silk flowers, ribbon ornaments and veils wet as these can still look droopy even after they dry again.
If a felt hat becomes wet, stuff it loosely with tissue before allowing it to dry. If your felt looks dull or dusty, you can use a bristle brush to brush up the nap again.
To store, stuff your hat loosely with tissue paper to hold its shape, and put it in its hat box away from dust and sunlight. Never hang a hat or keep it on a stand or its shape could become distorted over time.
